Community outreach programs

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is proud of its worldwide recognition. We are equally committed to the work that we do to educate and care for our local communities. Our outreach programs are central to our goal of addressing cancer disparities.

Our many community-focused programs and initiatives include the Firefighter Cancer Initiative and the Game Changer Vehicle. The Firefighter Cancer Initiative aims to reduce firefighters’ exposure to carcinogenic agents and introduce safety strategies that prevent them from bringing contaminants into the station and into their homes. Our Game Changer Vehicle delivers health education and cancer screenings to medically underserved communities in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Sylvester will grow these programs and create new initiatives to lessen the burden of cancer in our community.
