A life well lived is one filled with continual intellectual growth and exploration, as well as a community of people that fires curiosity, conversation, and creativity. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Miami has provided hundreds of stimulating courses and other engaging activities each year for thousands of individuals 50 and older since 1984.
As the population of older adults in South Florida continues to grow, our commitment is to grow with them, expanding our offerings of lifelong stimulation, creative expression, social interaction, and opportunities for service.
Lifelong Learning
Through OLLI at the University of Miami, members hone their minds and build bonds that can last a lifetime. The program provides a rich array of high-level and high-interest courses—many taught by the University’s faculty members—in areas ranging from history and literature to philosophy, the arts, and world affairs.
Our members come from all walks of life but share a passion for intellectual stimulation and growth. OLLI at the University of Miami is dedicated to meeting those needs and providing benefits that lifelong learning brings—from finding more meaning in life to improving brain and physical health, mood, and energy.

Enriching and engaging experiences
The more than 1,500 members served over the past 5 years have enjoyed special members-only events, holiday activities, and guest lecturers in addition to a rich catalogue of classes.
Fundraising Priorities
Innovation in Learning
We will implement enhancements and improvements that are of the greatest need and highest priority for the program, as identified by our members and approved by the director of OLLI at the University of Miami.
Expanding Lifelong Learning
To enhance the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute’s serving and offerings, we look to further the legacy of Julia Cayuso, Ed.D. A former OLLI director and renowned leader in the field of adult education, Cayuso is credited with expanding the program and significantly growing its philanthropic support.
Scholarship Support
We will increase opportunities for OLLI members who would otherwise not be able to attend classes and benefit from the dynamic lifelong learning experience we offer.
State-of-the-art Spaces
We will renew existing classrooms to better accommodate the growing number of OLLI members in our community. We also will enhance the learning experience by adding more seating areas throughout our facilities.
Technology for Education
We will improve the learning experience with new audiovisual equipment, Smart TV monitors, a new digital audio system, and new computers for our classrooms.
