The initiative for aging well

The School of Education and Human Development operates on the assumption that lifelong educational, social, and physical well-being are inextricably linked. Our mission encompasses the wider South Florida community, one that is multicultural, multilingual, and multigenerational.

The school will coordinate with the Miller School of Medicine to launch a multidisciplinary program focused on aging well. This initiative will bring faculty members and students together from across the Coral Gables and Medical campuses, in coordination with our exercise physiology and athletic training programs, to strengthen and elevate existing programming to provide innovative interventions to the community. Our service-based research project Guardrails has assessed more than 1,000 members of the South Florida community, helping them to prevent chronic diseases and improve their lives.
